As some of you may remember, I made the move to digital a few months back, sadly that experiment went horribly wrong when after about three weeks the D40x started freaking out. While I had just wanted to exchange it, sadly Amazon was out of stock so after somewhat of a hassle, I got a refund. I planned to get another camera, but with the holidays and all I hadn’t gotten around to it yet.
I had decided to get a better camera then the D40x and was leaning towards either the d80 or the d300. Sadly the d300 was much more the the d80 and I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend that much. On friday I got a call from Tom at Colonial Photo and Hobby saying they had the camera in stock and would hold it for me until the end of the day.

Here’s my new camera, the Nikon D300. While I’ve just started using it, I’m really liking it so far. It’s much more like my F100 that I’ve been using and so far the pictures have been really good. I still need to get the hang of digital, it doesn’t always do what I think it should or what a film camera would. Also have to figure out Black&White. That’s what I like to shoot and I don’t know if it’s better to set it to B/W or to take color and convert to B/W with Photoshop. Infrared is another problem, I don’t think I’ll convert this camera for IR so I’ll have to see what I can figure out.
I’ll post some of the first photos I took later when I get home.
