Slacker

Posted in Are you serious?, Time 2 Piss People Off on December 10th, 2007 by sherlock

I realize that I have been slacking in the blog department. I don’t think I’ve written any posts that have pissed off someone this year… Well there was the islam apologist and maybe the harry potter fans, but nothing that really riled the villagers. I have a few post in my head that is sure to piss the crap out of some people. So if I can get wordpress to cooperate, I’ll be posting at least some of them up.  So gather up the town folk and light the torches.

Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold

Posted in Movies on December 5th, 2007 by sherlock

Revenge makes for good movies, one of my favorites is Oldboy. Locked up for 15 years without knowing why or by who, Dae-su is released and sets out to seek his revenge. With five days to find out who imprisoned him and why, he hunts down and kills the ones responsible with the help of a young girl he meets at a sushi bar. The scene at the end with him finally figuring out what is happening and why he was imprisoned and the realization of what he has done. The horror and pain, not just physical but also mental, he feels is unimaginable. Great movie, very messed up but highly recommended, it’s now available on blu-ray.

Sweeney Todd looks to be a great revenge movie, with Tim Burton Directing and Johnny Depp starring, it can only be good. It is about a barber that has a good life and family until he is unjustly sent to prison by the evil Judge Turpin (played by the great Alan Rickman). He vows revenge not only for being sent to prison, but also for what happens to his family, his wife and daughter. He returns and reopens his barbershop and becomes the demon barber of fleet street. Helen Bonham Carter also stars as Mrs. Lovett, who makes diabolical meat pies. Sounds like the right director with the right script and cast to make a really great revenge movie to me.

You can also visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace and visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site.

Overheard Conversation at BJs

Little boy carrying a large globe walking with his dad.

Little Boy: I say yes

Dad: Well I say no, so it’s no.

LB: well I say yes.

Dad: I said No

LB: If I say yes and you say no then it’s a tie!

Dad: that’s not the way it works.

LB: What do you mean that’s not the way it works?

We were laughing to hard to hear the rest.

Sherlock to WB: Kid makes a good point, I would give him credit for that!

I don’t know what they were arguing about, but if it was about the globe, I would have gotten it for him, if anything, I would go back later and get it for him for Christmas.

Tin Man Rings Hollow

Posted in Movies, TV on December 5th, 2007 by sherlock

So I finished watching Tin Man last night on the sci-fi channel. I wasn’t really impressed with it, the only characters I liked were the Tin man and Glitch (the scarecrow), DG was stupid and really didn’t do anything except let the others do what needed to be done. Raw (the lion) … did he do anything? The Witch just shot monkeys out her butt Boobs to search for DG, and toto was kind of dumb.

Oh, yeah, Richard Drefus played the Wizard or the magic man or some other shit like that, but was he even on screen more then a minute or two? did he charge by the minute and that was all they could afford? He was on screen less then Jody Foster in Stealing Home! The movie was 5 hours long, they couldn’t write him a better part? If all he could do was a cameo, then give him a different part and put someone else as the wizard/magic man/whatever.

What was with the O.Z. crap? What, they didn’t have the rights to use Oz? I’m sure if a place (or thing) was called the O.Z. most people would call it Oz (you don’t call a Jeep a J.P. do you? How about a HumVee?).

So in the end they use explosives as a diversion to get into the castle, then the spend a lot of time trying to shut off the eclipse machine… maybe they could have saved at least a little of the explosives?

All in all, it was disappointing, It had a good premise and I think it could have been good. I just didn’t care much about the characters and wished the witch would have zapped DG off the tower in the end!
