We went to the Pat Benatar concert in downtown Orlando last night, i thought I would share some thoughts on things that happened there.
We got there early and the crowd had not yet packed in tight. We were able to make our way to the front rail easily and got to a good spot. In front of us was an area that the VIPs were in so we were not able to get right up to the stage, but still it was a good spot. About six feet behind us were a group that had brought chairs to sit in, the older man was upset because he had been there 3+ hours and now he couldn’t see because people standing in front of him. Now we were not the ones that were blocking his view, he was off to the side a little, but we had done what the ones that were blocking him had, we had gotten in front of people sitting in chairs. Do I feel bad about this? Hell no, they had left several feet in front of themselves. If they stood they could see just fine and they were taking up a lot of space with those seats anyway. The VIPs were standing and blocking our view too, did he expect them to clear an area so he could see the stage from his seat? The railing we were standing at was blocking their view of the stage anyway unless they stood. If they had put their chairs close to the rail it would have stopped people from getting in front of them, that’s what some people did. So it doesn’t matter how early you get to the concert, if you’re stupid, people will stand in front of you.
Who the fuck brings a baby to a concert? We’re talking a few months old. In the VIP section was a couple with a 3(?) year old girl and a baby! If you have never been to a concert then try turning on your stereo as loud as it will go and stand in front of it. That might be as loud as it was in the VIP section. We were standing at the end of the VIP section and our ears hurt after the show, how is a baby’s ears going to feel? The 3yo had her fingers stuck in her ears it was so loud. They did finally move away from the stage but they went off to the side the last I saw them, which would still have been too loud.
I don’t think I have ever been to a show that let people bring umbrellas. Maybe because it was a free show. It was drizzling before the show and during the opening act and people had out their umbrellas. That sucks because just one umbrella blocks everyone behind them from seeing anything. Haven’t people ever heard of ponchos? It wasn’t even raining very much. Then there were the ones that held the umbrellas way back making them a large circle that blocked even more people from seeing and didn’t keep the person holding it dry. Luckily the rain stopped before Pat Benatar hit the stage, but the idiots kept their umbrellas open long afterwards.
