I’ll See You on the Left Side of the Loon
Posted in Brain Vomits, Music, Observations, Pink Floyd, Time 2 Piss People Off on May 31st, 2007 by sherlockSyd Barrett, like a sun going supernova, shone very brightly, very briefly, before imploding in on himself and fading away. He was the ‘Pink’ and the ‘Floyd’.
I was at the Roger Waters concert over in Tampa a few weeks ago. For the most part it was a great show, unfortunately, if you know Roger Waters, you know how big a lefty he is. If you have heard the song When the Tigers Broke Free you can kind of get his reasons for being so anti-war, yet his father died protecting his country and protecting his countrymen’s freedoms. If his father and those fighting with him had failed, or given up or had not decided to fight, would he have what he has today? Sure, he might have his father (that is debatable), but maybe at the cost of his money and his fame. Maybe that would be worth it to him, but then again it might also have cost him his creativity, his art and his freedom, much of which he (and most lefties) use with vigor to criticize what they see as wrong with the country, the people, the government and the leaders. In Hitler’s Britain, would that pig fly? Would Syd have shone so brightly? He might prefer this scenerio, but would the prisoners at auschwitz?
I tend to think that most of the current liberials would be the ones fighting for their freedoms, fighting for their creativity. This in evident in places like Iran, China and even Egypt, as bloggers and singers and writers fight for their freedom to be creative, to express themselves. While the government of these countries fight to suppress them by beating and arresting them. Islam suppresses even more, jailing critics, destroying artwork they deem offensive and issuing death sentences against artists and writers that don’t follow the guidelines.
‘We don’t need no Education, We don’t need no thought control’
I thought it ironic as he sang Another Brick in the Wall that he doesn’t seem to get that he has become the ‘educator’ and ‘controller’ with his lecturing and protesting? Him and all his ilk, have become what he writes about with so much distain, close-minded, unmoving, unwilling to consider other viewpoints. A cog in the machine created to crank out new lefties with only the ‘correct’ narrative. The ones not following the correct narrative are the ‘queers’ and the ‘coons’, the ones in the spotlight that ‘don’t look right’, the ones that should be put ‘up against the wall’.
I am a liberal, even worse (in a lefties eyes at least), I am a minority, but I think fighting for our freedoms is essential. I’m not pro-war, or a war monger, I would prefer not to fight, but I would fight and die for my family, for my freedom and my country. The liberals love to criticize the government for any small inconvenience they suffer, claiming that inconveniences such as airport security, are an attack on personal freedoms. Yet they seem to turn a blind eye to the supression of freedoms in other countries. An American that stands up and points out someone suspicious is decried as a racist, an uncouth rube needing to be indoctrinated in the politically correct mindset, yet as protestors fighting for the freedoms we enjoy here are beaten, bloodied and jailed in Argentina, Cuba, Iran, Egypt and others, the only sound coming from the left’s empty pulpits are the sounds of the crickets chirping.
