Sadly, fiction imitates life!

Posted in Are you serious?, Stuff, Time 2 Piss People Off on March 19th, 2007 by sherlock

So I’m watching the Julia Louise-Drefus(sp) show, it’s the first time I’ve seen it… The adventures of ??? Anyway, the premise of the episode is how she is more interested in voting for the American Idol then an actual election, so much so that she gets to the polling place too late to vote. So then she is upset that she isn’t more involved in the process like she was when she was younger and goes out and joins an activist group that is anti-oil drilling. So in the end, which what I gather was to be the funny, the group she has joined is actually the opposite of what she thought, she hadn’t even read their brochure to find out what they were about.

At the Winter Park Art Festival this weekend, we were approached by a women with some petition for a wetlands initiative of some kind, I saw several people signing it. When I asked what exactly it was for, we were given a very brief explaination, less then a sentence worth. She expected us to sign right there with what I would call no actual information. I asked where I could read more about the petition and the woman seemed to get angry. I told her I don’t sign anything without reading about it. I would have thought that she would hand me a brochure or even a leaflet that explained more than what she had told me. She just seemed to get more aggrivated by my questioning, so I asked if they had a website that I could look it up on, that seemed to be the last straw and she turned away and stalked off yelling out a website as she left. I guess she didn’t really care about the petition, just getting us to sign. If I felt commited to a cause, I would gladly explain what it was and how the petition would help. It’s not that I wouldn’t sign the petition, it may really be something that I believe in, it’s just that I want to know exactly what the hell it does. Sadly, just telling people that it is good for the environment seemed to get a lot of people to sign something even though they don’t even know what it does.
It’s kind of like when on Penn & Teller Bullshit, they had people signing a petition to repeal women’s suffrage, I think only one person realized what that actually meant.

Wazzabi

We went to the Winter Park Art Festival this morning. It was a lot of fun, I think that we have gone every year but one. This year we didn’t buy anything as we have in other years, I just didn’t think there was anything that I had to have, at least not that I could afford. Afterwards we had lunch at Wazzabi, mmm, I love sushi. We have had sushi takeout from there before but I had never eaten there before. It was great.

Nip/WTF?

Posted in Are you serious?, Stuff on March 13th, 2007 by sherlock

Looks like Modonna is going to be on Nip/Tuck. What I found interesting was this quote:

‘Madonna has the body of a woman half her age…’

The body of a woman half her age? Is that legal? Is it just the torso or does it have arms and legs? feet and hands? Is the head still attached? Where does she keep it? I thought Michael Jackson was strange for having the skeleton of the elephant man.

…I’m going to Disney World!

I’m Not Blogging Today

Posted in Are you serious?, Stuff on March 7th, 2007 by sherlock

Since yesterday I set up the birthday blog to post today, I don’t have to think up something to blog about today. I can take the day off from blogging and won’t have to worry about trying to come up with something to blog about. So there will be no new posts today… Wait… ahh Crap!

Photo Blog

So Nikon announced a new camera today… well kinda. They announced the D40x which is just a small upgrade from the D40 which was released just a few weeks ago. I didn’t really want the D40, it seems to little, but with the D40x, the upgrades seem to make it better for the photos I take, unfortunately the price has also increased and I’m not sure that if I spend that much it might just be better to spend the extra money and get the D80. Of course I really want the D200!

Well Rachel brought down the server with an Instalanche this afternoon. I had to restart MySQL to get it back up. I’m looking into being able to connect to the server remotely to be able to restart it without having to be home.

Blogging is hard

Posted in Stuff on March 1st, 2007 by sherlock

After reading all my usual blogs, I still found nothing that I wanted to blog about, I should just do a blog for a week instead of a month. Hopefully I get motivated by something.
