So I’m sitting in the theatre waiting for Superman to begin. They let us in about 45 minute before it started and everyone was just sitting around chatting. About a minute before the trailers started, the guy next to me makes a call, hmm, this doesn’t bode well, luckily he ends the call just after the trialers start to roll so that’s good. Then, instead of putting the phone away, he starts typing away on it! Well the trailers were still on so there was still a chance he would put it away. He finishes texting and closes the phone (flip phone) just as the lights dim and the opening credits start to roll. The movie starts and just about the time I start to enjoy the flick this extremely bright light pierces the darkness of the theatre as moron opens his phone and reads the message I imagine he just received. Then the ‘click click click’ of him texting starts. WTF. I shot him a nasty glance and the phone snaps shut for what I hope is the remainder of the movie. Of course that is not the case, just a few minutes later the bright light once again comes on as he checks his message and starts replying. I go to say something when someone close by says ‘hey buddy, can you tune it down?’. The phone snaps shut, But of course this is not the end of the story. A few minutes later he opens the phone once again, this time he tries to cover the light of the phone with a napkin, moving it as he reads whatever message he got. ‘click click click’.

I reach over and grab the phone and with a hard shove I cram it so far down his throat that he forever walks around with the light from his phone shining out of his ass like ground effects neon on a car.

Well at least that is what I wanted to do. I looked over just as the prick closed the phone. I glanced around to see if there were any ushers to flag down and saw no one. I thought of getting up to look for one but that would mean missing part of the movie. The fucking phone flipped open again and I had enough. I turned to face the asswipe.
Me: Tell me you didn’t fucking pay $9 to come in here and text all night long?
AW: hey, chill man, i’m not bother…
Me: The hell you’re not, I came to watch a movie, not to see and hear you texting.
I was pissed, I could hear mumbling around me, I’m not sure, but I imagine they agreed with me. The asswipe closed his phone for the rest of the movie!

Everyone considered them…

We’re searching for treasure!

Posted in Stuff, TV on June 27th, 2006 by sherlock

So I saw Treasure Hunters last night for the first time, it seems like a cool show, although the puzzles seemed fairly easy to me. How were the contestants chosen for this show? Some of them were really stupid, (the wild halyons) I’m surprised they got through, and the religious ones were assholes, but I guess that goes without saying. We usually watch Hell’s Kitchen, but the people this season seem retarded, actually, that may be more of an insult to the retarded. I’ll watch HK again next week, but may stop watching it in favor of TH if it sucks.

‘What are you retarded? Get off the fucking car!’

Graphic Photos

Posted in Stuff on June 22nd, 2006 by sherlock

I have the header graphic set to change every day at about 8pm, I may set it to change more often, maybe after I add more headers to the mix this weekend. Oh, I also added the Sherlock to the headers.

Update: The time the graphic changes depends on the time the script is run, so every time I restart the server or the script the time changes.

If you don’t recognize the quote, It’s from an old Richard Pryor routine. He is talking about how a man, even when caught in bed with another women, can deny categorically that he is innocent. This seems to be true of the left. Jason Leopold and Truthout after weeks of declaring that Karl Rove would be indicted were proven wrong when the prosecutor said he would not be indicted, are still insisting they are correct. WTF? Then after a story in the Washington Post by Joe Laura showed that Leopold had used Laura’s name to get infomation, they claim Laura has no proof except the Rove staffer who is obviously lying. Hmm, let’s see then, how would the staffer have known Laura’s first name, the paper he worked for, and his phone number (which was off by one number). Yea, I think everyone can see the dicks

so let me get this straight. before Katrina there was ~1600 police officers in the NOPD, now there are 1300+ or over 75% of pre-K levels. There is only 50% of the population of pre-K and the great Mayor Nagin says they are overwhelmed by the crimes and calls in the national guard? crime rates in NO pre-K were the worst in the nation, now they are at a fraction of those and you can’t handle them? You have got to be fucking kidding me, how do you fucks think that a mayor that couldn’t handle crime pre-K and couldn’t handle Katrina, and now can’t handle a fraction of the population and crime, how is he going to rebuild NO? You dumb fucks get NO sympathy from me.

‘Get off my lawn, you young whipper snappers’

Posted in Stuff on June 20th, 2006 by sherlock

What the hell is a whipper snapper? oh well, anyway, on Sunday as we were driving out of the gate, we noticed a car parked in the road almost blocking the entrance to the subdivision, you had to swerve around it to get in. That wasn’t all, there was a small group of people at the pond that runs from the road and behind our house. The group was fishing and had lawn chairs like they were having a picnic on the side of the pond that there are no houses. The car was parked in front of the sign that reads ‘No Tresspassing, No Fishing’. When we returned, the car was gone, at home we went to our backyard and there was a kid fishing directly across from our house. I asked him where he lived and he said he was visiting a friend that lived in the neighborhood. We talked a little bit and I even took his picture with a fish he caught. Later that afternoon, the picnic people were back, this time also across from our house, and once again, they had parked so that it interfered with the entrance. WTF? While I didn’t say anything to them, not being sure they didn’t live in the neighborhood, I did hang around outside to see what they were doing, which was mostly smoking, fishing, and making noise. Of course I figure there are cigarette butts where they were or in the water since smokers don’t give a shit where the throw them. When they left I watched as they went out the gate of the neigborhood just like I thought they would. So yesterday we get home and there is a kid fishing IN OUR BACKYARD!!! I walk out and see that the kid from Sunday was also there fishing. I was still pissed about the picnic people from the day before so I asked the new kid where he lived:
kid 1: around the corner.
me: what street?
kid 1: oh suchNsuch
me: that’s not in this neighborhood, this is a private lake for residents.
kid 2: oh he lives around the corner, I told you that yesterday.
me: yesterday you said he lived in the neighborhood.
kids: oh!
me: you can fish today, but you can’t keep coming here.
Afterwards I felt kind of bad, when I was I kid I used to go fishing in the ponds all around, but the difference was that I either had permission or there were no ‘No Fishing’ signs, and it is not like the pond is the only place to fish, there are several ponds and canals within walking distance, most don’t have signs. I also wouldn’t have cared as much if the picnic people hadn’t been there twice the day before and if that little girl months earlier hadn’t come into our patio and stolen our duck. I don’t like having people that I know don’t live there scoping out the homes.
So can I call the cops on these people? Don’t think I’m cruel and would call them on the kids, but the older teenagers and adults that sometimes show up that don’t live here, they are trespassing but I don’t really own the property they are on, the homeowners assc. does. I don’t like having strangers able to look in our house from the lake and I don’t want to have our blinds closed. Like I said, It’s not like there are no other lakes around for them to fish without them coming onto private property, even more for the picnic people who had a car!

Grief Stricken

Posted in Stuff on June 20th, 2006 by sherlock

I was watching the today show this morning and they were interviewing the uncle of one of the soldiers kidnapped/killed who said that we should have paid ransom to the kidnappers to get the soldiers back. I’ll attribute that thinking to the grief of finding out that his nephew was probably killed, he had learned just before the interview of the reports that their bodies were found. Can anyone say that paying the kidnappers is a good idea? This just encourages more kidnappings. I think offering rewards for information on finding them is one thing, paying ransom is totally different. If you think that paying ransom doesn’t encourage more kidnappings then you only need look towards South America. I know it happens in other countries too but I’ll deal with Colombia. In Colombia in the ’80s and ’90s and the early ’00s, the rebels started kidnapping foreigners for ransom, if the ransom was paid they let the kidnapped person go, if not they were killed. The ransoms started to usually be payed and soon foreigners were being kidnapped everywhere. The rebels were getting so much money from ransom, they were financing their war with it! What happened? the government cracked down on them and last year, I think(numbers are hard to come by), there was 376 kidnappings, this from a country that averaged half of all the kidnappings in the world, more then 2800 reported kidnappings in 1999. So, unfortunately for the family of a kidnap victim, paying the ransom isn’t really the way to go, especially for our soldiers. It would put even more of them at risk for kidnapping.

Skull Island

Posted in Stuff on June 18th, 2006 by sherlock

So last weekend we noticed a dead body in the lake, we went around to investigate and found a possum had died and was floating around, I, of course, grabbed a stick and poked it a few times, it was too heavy to flip over unfortunately. On Thursday, my mom mentioned that there were a lot of vultures on the other side of the pond. This morning we walked around the pond taking photos when we came across the bones of the possum. They had been picked clean and were scattered around. I brought home the skull and jaw bones and put them in a jar of water with a small amount of Hydrogen Peroxide and set it out in the backyard to finish cleaning. When it’s clean, I’ll bleach it and clear coat it. Hopefully it comes out good. For those of you out there wondering how I know what to do to clean the bones, there are a lot of websites devoted to it!

Blog Graphic

Posted in Stuff on June 17th, 2006 by sherlock

I programmed the graphic at the top of Bakerstreet to change randomly, I plan on having it change maybe once or twice a day, but currently I have it changing hopefully about every hour to see how it works. I didn’t want to wait 24 hours to see if it is working. I have 12 images that it should cycle through, but I plan on adding more. If you think you like one (they are cropped too show only a small part) I will sell prints of them and others, just ask to see the full photo. I want to have a gallery posted soon so keep checking back.

Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels

Posted in Stuff on June 13th, 2006 by sherlock

I’m an internet bouncer, meaning that I bounce around from site to site reading and clicking links on the stories I like. So i was bouncing around today when I hit upon a name that sounded familiar, it is an unusual surname so I thought it might be who I thought it was, but the first name, while familiar, couldn’t be who I remembered. I did a search for the name and I am now 99% sure it is who I thought, I also realised that I knew him by a different name… Jr. thus the reason I was confused at first. story time.

A few years ago I managed a one hour photo shop in the tourist district. It was owned by a couple that had moved from NY to Kissimmee. They set up the store and had contracts with the hotels in the area to do their film. They had a son going to UF that everyone called Jr., he was studying law. Since he was at college, I only met him two, maybe three times. I had just started working there when I had my first encounter with him, it was not in person but on the phone; he called asking for his mom so I passed the phone to her. I don’t remember how long the call lasted, but I have never heard anyone scream so much at their mom as he did that night. What was he screaming about? He wanted money. As I soon found out, his only reason to call was to get money, this from his mom, his dad, and everyone that knew them. I was not to pass the phone to his mom ever, his dad didn’t control the cash so he rarely asked for him, I think I only heard him talk to his father once and that was to ask him to get him money from his mom. Every phone call I ever heard them have was him screaming at his mom for money. If you think I mean that he was just asking for money, you are wrong, he didn’t so much ask as demand, and not only that, what he called his mom and how he talked to her was the most foul disgusting language you can imagine, the kind of language I use when talking about Hillary. This even though she was paying for his tutition, dorm, car, insurance (a lot after his DUIs!), bail, and everything he wanted. There was a rule at the store, if you see Jr., lock the registers and pocket the key, and both times I remember him there, that was the first place he went, unfortunately both times I had the key. One of those times he was so mad that she wouldn’t give him the money he was demanding, he started trashing the store. I told him and his mom that if she didn’t get him out of there I was calling the cops and having him arrested, she got him out. When I went to his parents home, I wondered why there were holes in the walls and on the door to her room (mom and dad slept in different rooms), she told me that when he would visit to get money she would lock herself in her room and he would get mad and punch the walls and door. From a neighbor, I was told that the walls were not all he would hit! He was a spoiled brat whose mom would provide him with everything he wanted (she always relented) and get him out of any trouble he got into. He once said (screamed) that he wished they would die so he could have what he was entitled to. During the time I worked there, he never held a job and from the people that knew him, the only job he had was at mom’s photo shop (before i worked there) and he mostly just hung out and stole the cash from the register.

He is now running for the Florida State House district 23 as a Democrat (of course) and was arrested for recording someone without their permission. I found him on dailykos which is no surprise. I won’t mention his name (shouldn’t be hard to figure out) because some of this is hearsay, but from my personal experience, he is a piece of shit human being and I hope he loses his race. Looking around his site, I didn’t find any mention of jobs he has had, just a lot of degrees he has, probably paid for by mommy, and I wonder if he still relies on her to bail him out, and if he still screams at her for his ‘entitlement’! If you are in district 23 (Alachua county), consider this before voting.

Sweet Dreams are made of these

Posted in Stuff on June 13th, 2006 by sherlock

Apparently Tink (who’s blog I don’t really read(sorry!)) posted this blog prompt on friday:
Are you where you thought you would be in life, when you graduated from high school? Are there dreams you had then that you still have now?
On the first question I can say a definate NO. Where did I think I would be? I thought/hoped I would be dead. Since I knew the average age of people with the medical problems I have, I never expected/wanted to reach higher. I wished to be at the lower end of the average. But I had hoped to be famous, at least a little. I had wanted to at least have one movie done, something that I still have not been able to do or to have become a well known photographer or artist, but I never had enough talent too do that. Thinking back, maybe my first marriage was because of the short time that I considered I had, I never thought it would last, but mostly because of that timeclock ticking.
Now the second question…
This is a harder question to answer, I am at a point in my life that I am happiest, I have a wife who I love and that loves me and a daughter I love and that loves me…. yet the hope is still there.

Foot Wine

Posted in Stuff on June 12th, 2006 by sherlock

So everyone that reads my blog knows I don’t like the french, they are smelly, rude bastards that surrender if you look at them, but god damn they make good wine! We are sucking down a brand called Black Sheep, which I think is appropriate for me since I’m the black sheep, which is the reason we bought it. Maybe it’s the yeast and fungus that grows on their feet because they don’t bathe that makes their wine so tasty?
