Exhausting Day

Posted in Stuff on April 30th, 2006 by sherlock

So while Rachel had to work today, I went to Universal Studios with my friend Mike and his 6 year old daughter. I hadn’t seen Mike in about two years, we have talked on the phone, but every time we tried to get together something would stop us. We went to Islands of Adventure first and we did most of the rides that his daughter was big enough to do, including Stanley Falls and Bluto’s Barge where we got soaked though. Of course it was an overcast and windy day so it was cold going until we dried off. We went to try and get on the Hulk, with the child swap, but it closed when we got there, at least we didn’t wait in line any. We then headed to Universal, strangely, that park was much more crowded with really long waits on all the rides, we had not encountered any waits at IoA! we headed to the Mummy which Mike hadn’t been on before and luckily the sign said it was a 10 minute wait… Unfortunately the sign lied and we stood in line for 45 minutes, but we got on. We walked around but the lines were all over 45 minutes until we got to Back to the Future, It was only a 25 minute wait so we went on that and then to ET which had no wait at all, well the short wait while they get everyones name but that was all. We then went to the playarea they have next to ET and Mike and I sat while she played, we did the woody woodpecker roller coaster (which I must have blinked and missed, it was really short) then the rest of the day we went to the water area where she played more while we sat! Rachel picked us up after work at around 6 then we dropped them off and went for sushi…mmmm sushi!

My Claim to Fame?

So I’ve been turned into a comic strip character, And I’m the comic relief! just like in real life.

Sorry Chris, I didn’t know you heard the ‘fatboy’ comment, and I think what I really said was ‘I don’t care who the fatboy is that’s talking to Karen, I’m watching 24!’

Art of me, why not take art of me…

I really need to create… I’m so sick of seeing all the talent in the office and knowing that I haven’t done anything creative in years. I haven’t painted since high school or drawn in like ten years. I think any talent I used to have has slowly drained out of me, even my photography seems to have suffered.

Bear Left. Right Frog!

Posted in Observations, Stuff on April 25th, 2006 by sherlock

So on the NBC nightly blues they were talking about the clinton portraits and the anchor (Brian Williams?) said ‘the right leaning New York Post bla bla bla…’, so why have I never heard him say ‘the left leaning…’ when talking about any of the left leaning news media (NYT, LAT, NBC, etc…)?

Why am I Here?

Posted in Observations, Stuff, TV on April 25th, 2006 by sherlock

As I sit here at my desk I keep questioning why the hell I’m here? Yea, I enjoy the job I do and it kind of gives me some freedom. There is not many jobs that would let me get away with what I can here. But still, should I try for a better job? I’m sure I could handle a ‘real’ job and it’s responsiblities, I just don’t know if I want to, but here I see no future, no ‘up’ from where I sit. I’m not family and they seem to be happy with me right where I am. Starting my own company is not really likely, I have no idea what it would be or how to go about it. I have lost most of my artistic abilities and I would have to study more to go into web design. I don’t think I can program anymore except to modify code, it’s been too long since I even tried. As for the movie I want to do, it’s pretty much hopeless unless someone coughs up some dough to do it, but I plan on finishing the screenplay off and see if anyone is interested and maybe even write a few more, but that is kinda like playing the lottery, it’s highly doubtful. Hopefully the documentary gets finished and that it helps us get more interest in the film. Well at least Rachel has a better chance to make something of herself and people actually read her blog. So here I sit…

‘Can You Fly Bobby?’

Posted in 24, Movies, TV on April 24th, 2006 by sherlock

holy cow, it’s a Robocop reunion! We need ‘red’ to finish off the cast!

Update: Yea, I know Kurtwood Smith is the one that says the title line. I guess the Vice pres ‘Leland’ didn’t make an appearance in this episode so not truly a full ‘Robocop’ cast!

(How many people can figure out what charactors and what shows I used in this post without imdb?)

Katie, you ignorant slut…

Posted in Stuff on April 20th, 2006 by sherlock

Katie Couric, you are a ‘reporter’ and soon to be an anchor, you should know that it is Mr President or President Bush, you do NOT refer to the President of the United States of America as Mr. Bush like you did this morning.

I try not to consider myself right or left, though I do vote mostly Republican, I also have very liberal views. It always amuses me that the left loves to claim that they are so progressive and not racists like the right knuckle-draggers are. How can the left justify their claims when they write things like this? It smacks more of knuckle-dragging then I see on the right and very, very childish.

The Opus Code

Opus Dei seems to have the courage that is lacking in most of the rest of the world including the US. They are publishing a new mohammed cartoon in their magazine Studi Cattolic.

Cold Hearted Apple

Posted in Observations, Stuff on April 17th, 2006 by sherlock

I’m a big fan of Apple Computers, so it’s kind of sad when I see a story that they made a little nine year old girl cry, especially since I have a nine year old daughter who likes Apple too. The problem isn’t even really with Apple, the big problem is really with frivolous lawsuits. To protect itself, most companies hire lawyers to write their policies and responses to letters they get. This makes the companies sometimes appear mean and heartless. So don’t blame Apple, blame the moron who spilled hot coffee in her lap or tripped over another customers child or put a frog in her salad or a severed finger in her chili…

Do you accept Visa?

On the way to work everyday we pass this billboard, it is all flames burning with large bold letters on it. I hadn’t really ever looked much at it, so it shows that it doesn’t seem to be effective, at least for me. Today I finally read what it said and now I’m confused. It reads ‘Jesus paid for my sins, who will pay for yours?’. that is it except for a website address, guess I should have tried to remember that… maybe they could explain it to me. Anyway, I am not a bible expert (I have read it all but that was years ago), but it is my recollection that Jesus paid (died) for ALL our sins! Am I wrong, that is what I’ve long thought? If I’m wrong, will they send me a bill? Is there an installment plan I can use? What’s the interest rate? I’ll have to use my tax refund, I just know it!

The Weekend

Posted in House of horrors, Stuff on April 16th, 2006 by sherlock

Yesterday we went fishing in the morning, we both caught a few, and we released all but one which was a keeper for dinner. it was very tasty. We also planted one of the two guava plants we bought in the backyard. Today we went to the home improvement store (got a ladder), and then spent the rest of the day here at home. We cleaned up the garage a little, put some boxes up in the attic and threw away a lot of stuff. It’s still not very clean, but we could park one car in it. What we need is shelves and cabinets so that we can put some things away and out of sight. We still have a bunch of boxes to go though and throw some of the stuff in them out, keep some and store some either in the attic or on a shelf. We could have done more to clean it out, but we were really tired.

Suchak Ladder

Posted in Stuff on April 16th, 2006 by sherlock

We bought a step ladder today, we’ve been needing one but hadn’t gotten around to it, we got an 8′ one because we have such tall ceilings. The 10′ one would have been nice but it was twice as much and we would have a harder time storing it. We had a $10 off coupon and we will get a $20 gift cert for buying it, plus I had a gift card so it came out to be a fairly good deal.

What must they think?

Posted in Stuff on April 14th, 2006 by sherlock

So Chris Muir was in our offices today. He was talking to a co-worker in her office and I was in the next room, I don’t have an office, being the department head, I’m out in the department to keep things under control (yea right!). So it being Friday, only Phil and me were there, so what were we doing the whole time he was there? Watching season 2 of 24 and screaming at the bad guys and cheering Jack. What must he and others that come into our office think? What kind of impression must they get from this?

I say the weirdest things

Posted in Stuff, Time 2 Piss People Off on April 14th, 2006 by sherlock

It was game night tonight and I almost killed two of my friends. I say things that I don’t really think are that funny, but what I said just floored them! It was sick and unkind and no where near PC, but things like that just tend to pop into my head and out of my mouth.

Ripping the lips from the fish

Posted in Animals taste good, Fish, Stuff on April 14th, 2006 by sherlock

We’re going fishing tomorrow I think, we haven’t gone in a few weeks (not counting out back) because of the yardwork we’ve been doing, but I can’t stand it anymore. Yes I know I can just go in the backyard and fish, but I like going to the beach to fish, and we might get a tasty dinner! My friend Mike will be disappointed, we keep planning to go, but we can’t seem to find the right time for both of us, I can never get a hold of him when I need to, and we decided to go too late today to try and get a hold of him. well next time hopefully.

Day by Day

I meet a lot of cartoonists at my work, today it’s kinda cool to have Chris Muir of Day by Day fame here in our offices.

Update: Wow, Chris comments on my site…

And I feel fine…

I have been sleeping OK the past few nights, at least OK for me, since I usually just get 3-4 hours. What I want to know is why I feel so much worse then I did last week when I was barely sleeping?
