I missed my 15 seconds

Posted in Stuff, The Camera Eye on March 28th, 2006 by sherlock

Since I missed my window, I guess I’ll blog. I reprogrammed the webcam, it is now on only in the evenings until 11pm on Monday to Thursdays. on Friday evening it comes on and stays on until 12 midnight Sunday/Monday. I figure at night you can’t see anything anyway.

End Run Around!

Posted in Observations on March 28th, 2006 by sherlock

I’m the go to guy at work, if anyone needs something or if there is a problem, most likely it ends up on my desk. I like it that way, if something is wrong, I would rather fix it and fix it right then have the problem linger and cause even more problems. A while back there was a problem, unforunately I was not informed of the problem and it went on for a few weeks. Someone else kept fixing the problem when the customer complained, but the next week it was back because it wasn’t fixed the way it should have been. When I finally learned of the problem, the customer was very upset and thinking of dropping our service, the bosses were upset at me for not having solved the problem, it didn’t matter that I hadn’t known of the problem, it was my job to make sure things were done right. I almost lost my job because someone didn’t do what they were supposed to do and come to me with a problem. I solved the problem permanently in 5 minutes.
If they had left me a note or sent me an email or just come to me directly, things would have turned out a lot better, but instead there was a big shit storm that took a while to settle down.

Sadly, I find myself in that same situation now.

The following takes place today

between 8:30pm and 9:30pm:

24 starts

No Apologies

Posted in The Camera Eye on March 27th, 2006 by sherlock

For now at least, we’ve decide to leave the webcam open to the public, things probably would have been different but I’ve changed my mind. So except for the ‘no spy’ times posted on the cam site, you’ll be able to watch us ‘sea monkeys’ frolic in our home.

Spys like us

Now that I’ve figured out how (I think) the webcam will be OFF during the day on weekdays so that I can’t be accused of spying.

I missed an IM because I was watching the Battlestar Galactica season finally ((tivoed)best show on TV(next to 24)), but to get what you want, you just need to look in the right place!

The Camera Eye

Posted in Stuff, Time 2 Piss People Off on March 21st, 2006 by sherlock

Everywhere you go, the mall, the bank, the streets, daycare centers and almost anyplace you can think of there are cameras. Businesses use them for security and to prevent shoplifters, employers use them to watch the employees, cities and counties use them for law enforcement and to watch their employees and so on. Joseph Smith was caught and convicted of killing Carlie Brucia because of a video camera, I don’t think they needed his permission to film him. ‘Big Brother’ is watching whether you want him to or not, there is no place to hide except maybe inside your home.

Cameras are rolling

Posted in Stuff, Time 2 Piss People Off on March 21st, 2006 by sherlock

I installed a webcam in our house partly for security and partly for fun, If you don’t want to be on camera…stay the fuck out of our house!
Oh, and I plan on adding 2 or 3 more, Big Brother WILL be watching.

Live from Orlando it’s the Pereira show

I took Friday off, I had an eye doctors appointment so I was going to get to work late anyway so I thought I’ld take the rest of the day off to spend with my daughter. I did manage to go in to work for about an hour before the doctor though. I was gonna have my daughter on Saturday also, and she was looking forward to going to the Winter Park Art Festival, but alas, things change and I didn’t get to have her, I’ll have her next weekend to take her to Busch Gardens. The art fest was great, we got there fairly early hoping it wouldn’t be as crowded or as hot, of course we were wrong on both counts, what the fuck is with this heat? It March, it should still be cold…or at least Florida’s version of cold. Rachel picked up some photos that were nice and we ate the vendor food. As is usual, I promised myself to look though my photos, find the least shitty ones and have enlargements printed and framed for the house, I do this every year and it never really happens. After the festival we decided to head to Apopka and look for nurseries, we drove through Apopka without actually stopping at a nursery and decided to go to Mt Dora. there we walked around downtown and went to a wine store there, they sell winemaking equipment and we think we would like to try making some of our own, unfortunately we had spent a lot of money already and couldn’t purchase the equipment, but we will soon. from Mt Dora we drove off and ended up over near Clermont (yuck) so we headed home, stopping at a Home Depot to look at plants and a few grocery stores along the way to look for our cranberry ginger ale (no luck), which we are now out of! We got home and ate then went back out to Borders, While looking at the garden books I discovered that there are a lot of books on growing marijuana.

Happy Eat an animal for PETA day. On today’s menu, the favorite of PETA…BABY COW! Yummy!!! Veal cutlets on the grill, mmm mmm mmm. You can keep your tofu shit, if something didn’t have to die, it’s not dinner. In honor of the holiday, I’m wearing my ‘animals taste good’ t-shirt. Maybe for lunch I’ll have the stomped chicken special from KFC.

Bang and Blame

Posted in Brain Vomits, Observations, Time 2 Piss People Off on March 13th, 2006 by sherlock

Rape is a horrible crime, to force someone against their will to submit sexually is a vile act and should be punished. The fact that most victims of rape are women is easy to see. Some people would say that men are more violent then women, they must not have seen two women fighting over a guy! But be that as it may, the easiest answer would be that if you point a gun at a man, then most likely, mister stiffy will turn into mister softy and he won’t be much good to anyone except maybe for a good tongue lashing! So for a women to rape a man, it would more likely would mean getting him drunk, or blackmailing him, brute force just doesn’t work as well with men as with women.

Now comes the rub, When is it rape and when is it regret? I’m sure everyone will agree that men and women think and act differently. If a guy goes to a party, drinks heavily all night and then the next morning wakes up, rolls over and sees Janet Reno is in his bed and there are used condoms everywhere, usually he’ll slip out of the bed, grab his clothes, jump out the window, throw up a few times and go rent another apartment across town. It’s the old ‘walk it off’ mentality that has been ingrained in us, sure it may hurt, but you won’t hear us whine about it. If a women goes to a party, drinks heavily all night and then the next morning she wakes up rolls over and sees Janet Reno..(or some ugly guy!) is in her bed and there are used condoms everywhere, she’ll think ‘I would never sleep with ugly guy, was I raped?’ Feminists would be the first to say ‘yes you were raped, you were drunk and that bastard took advantage of you’ but in reality, could it just be regret?

Sadly, a women that goes out partying and has sex is considered a slut, this is not how some women would want to be seen, and it seems that women themselves are their own worst ‘critics’. Men just don’t go around talking about what a women is doing unless she’s doing him. This shows another reason that men won’t cry rape, a guy who gets a lot of tail is considered a stud, a women who hops into bed easily is a whore. if a women rapes a guy, even if she is ugly, the next day he can be out telling his pals ‘yea I banged her, hey pussy is pussy and I felt bad for her, she needed the wonder worm’ and the guys can all laugh about it, no regets. Women don’t want to be seen as a whore or slut. If a woman cries rape when in reality it is just regret, I think that at first she knows the truth, at least deep down, but then at some point they really do start to believe it, they don’t want to admit it to themselves what truly happened. Just like when children suppress being molested or even a man that is sexually assaulted by another man tries to block the memory.

Over on Protein Wisdom, Jeff Goldstein links to an article on the BBC about efforts to make it easier to convict men of rape if the women was drunk. It seems that they are having too hard of a time convicting men of rape with the current laws so they want too make it so that if a women is drunk, she can’t give consent to sex, I guess it matters not wether the man is drunk or who seduces who. Women are apparently not at fault. Yes, I do understand that the law holds the same for men and women, but as stated previously, mostly women cry regret…er rape in this situation and the law would most likely be used to prosecute men of rape, I doubt there would ever be a woman prosecuted with it. For those of you who would choose to believe that a women wouldn’t lie about a rape as I’ve heard some feminists claim or don’t believe my ‘regret not rape’ theory need only look to Disney a few weeks ago. If sleeping with a drunk woman is rape, then most guys are guilty, including me.

OK, we were talking about a woman getting drunk, that means she made the choice to drink, this does not include someone getting her drunk, or putting a roofie in her drink or some other drug for the sole purpose of getting her too drunk/high or getting her to pass out to have sex with her, this too I would consider rape. Someone that sees a girl who is barely able to stand or is passed out and fucks her is also raping her, but something like that would have to be proven, just like any crime, a man is innocent until proven guilt, he is not guilty just because she says he is. If she is willingly drinking or willingly taking the drugs (yes, some do take roofies willingly), then she sure as hell better prove the guy she was with or met or whatever forced her to have sex, and if she was the one acting sexually agressive to him or others at the party, that would make it harder for her to be convincing. Proving that she said no or stop may be hard, but sending a man to jail when she spread easier then soft butter on toast is worse. Just like a drunk driver has to take responsiblity for doing something stupid, so do both men and women have to. If it’s proven that he raped her then throw him in jail, but don’t make it guilty until proven innocent just so women can feel better about themselves. Just being accused of rape can damage a man’s reputation.

Women are not easy for men to read, we have a tough time actually knowing what they really want, and that is when we are sober. Throw in alcohol and we have a whole new ballgame with serious curveballs thrown into it. I have been out with girls that I though wouldn’t give me the time of day and ended up hooking up with them, then there were times that I thought I was getting some and ended up with someone totally different. Yes sometimes they were drunk, but sometimes not. I don’t think a guy out there ever knows wether or not he’ll get lucky on any given night or who with. As most people know, rape isn’t even about the sex, it is about power and control. So if that is the case, most guys out there partying want sex, not rape. Sure there are guys out hunting for someone to rape, or looking for an opportunity for an easy score, but most guys just want you for the sex.
